Hubei international logistics hub is the "top project" in Hubei Province. The national "14th Five-year Plan" and the outline of long-term goals in 2035 clearly state that a special cargo airport is to be constructed in Ezhou." The Huahu Airport in Ezhou, which was built with high standards, opened officially on July 17, 2022. It is the world’s fourth and Asia’s first cargo airport, and radiates to five major city clusters in China in 1.5 hours, covering 90% of the country's total economy and 80% of the population. Ezhou is now regarded as a national air-transportation logistics hub. Riding on the opportunities brought by the air transportation, it also relies on logistics and big data to drive other related industries such as medical and health care and intelligent manufacturing. The boosting effect has attracted a large number of central government-owned enterprise and famous companies, and will create 200,000 jobs, RMB 20 billion annual tax revenue and RMB 200 billion GDP. Currently, Ezhou aims to fully realized the potential of the first major cargo airport in building a multimodal transport system, a comprehensive airport logistics system and an international trade service system, creating an essential platform for the central-China region to open up and a supply chain management center in central China.
