There are 133 lakes in the city, covering a total of 49,700 hectares of water area. Liangzi Lake is the eighth largest freshwater lake in China, known as "fossil lake", "gene bank" and "bird paradise". In recent years, ecological projects have been well established and promoted, and the city’s efforts in implementing the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has been recognized by the central government.
